Obtaining copies of documents found in this index
All the original Canterbury Probate Office documents are held at the
Centre for Kentish Studies at
County Hall, Maidstone. They were filmed between 1950 -1990 and have been widely distributed. Copies of
a document
can be obtained from the above Archives or Family
History Centres around the World. The full DCb reference should be
quoted when
communicating with
archives. DCb/PRC??/Vol?/Folio?
for registered wills and
DCb/PRC??/Box No?? + (Letter group?/position?) for original wills.
Alternatively professional researchers can find and précis
wills. Always establish the cost before placing an order as some wills
are very long and complicated or written in Latin, French or Dutch.
